ZOLA EMILE - 16 Feb 1899 handwritten 2 pages letter in French from his exile in Britain, Zola fled in July 1898 from Paris to London. After the return of his wife and children to France to resume schooling, he lived alone from October 1898 to June 1899 staying in Upper Norwood. He writes to his colleague that he does not want to see anyone, his address must stay secret as a silence of a grave ("silence de tombe") and requests not to disturb him although personally he is in a bad shape.
